Mrs. Sarah’s Ballet is a 501(c)(3) recreational and competition dance studio with a mission to make ballet and dance classes both affordable and accessible to Smyth and surrounding counties. MSB is passionate about proper technique training, French terminology, and performance etiquette. You can expect the perfect blend of fun and technique in each class. Each class is formatted for the age and/or skill level of the class. Ballet classes are progressive and designed for specific ages and skill levels.

Dance Classes: Parents may sit in on classes or drop off. Drop off is only for children who can be totally independent without a parent. Parents who sit in on class are asked to be as quiet as possible, so the students can hear the teacher. Learning can get loud, bring headphones!

Dance Season Length: The season begins the week of August 24th and runs through Spring recital which is typically the end of April. Recital date TBA.

Dress Codes: Ballet- Ballet leotard, tights, ballet slippers; Tap- Ballet leotard or athletic clothes, tights or socks, black tap shoes. Jazz-Leotard or athletic clothes, tights optional, tan jazz slippers. Hair should be in a ballet bun or pulled back and out of the face.

Competition Team: UP Dance Co. is the Mrs. Sarah's Ballet competition team. Auditions have passed, but please reach out of you have interest in this team. UP Dance Co not only competes in Feb and March each year, they also have additional performance opportunities each season and are part of the Spring recital with the rest of the studio.  Email mrssarahsballet@gmail.com for more information.

Attendance: There’s no attendance policy for recreational dance classes. However, coming each week is highly encouraged! Students with regular attendance will get the most out of the class, feel confident in their routines, PLUS parents will get the most bang for your buck! Sickness and other things happen, so if a student misses more than two classes in one month, please speak to Mrs. Sarah about the possibility to take a make-up class.

Snow days/Other Holidays: Snow days and holidays will be handled on a case-by-case basis. There will always be make up classes for missed days. Notifications will be sent through mass texts and emails. Double check and make sure both your email and phone number are correct in the system.

Tuition: Tuition is due on the 1st of each month. All classes are offered at a discounted rate (INCLUDING THE COMPETITION TEAM), to honor our nonprofit mission of making dance classes affordable and accessible. This season you paid for your child's first two classes at registration, so tuition begins SEPTEMBER 1st. After the 10th of the month an automatic $10 late fee will be applied, no exceptions. The easiest way to keep up is to enroll in autopay. A child with an outstanding balance will not be allowed to participate in class or performances until the balance is paid. Unless you are on scholarship, your child's classes are NOT FREE. Attending class and refusing to pay is stealing and will be treated as such. Please be respectful of our organization and pay for your classes.

How to Quit: It's certainly understandable that some students will need to stop dance class before the season's end. Let Mrs Sarah know directly at least ten days before month's end when you need to unenroll your child. This allows you to be removed from auto-pay and for a child on the waitlist to be notified that they can begin class.
